A lot of Flat Design (http://www.awwwards.com/flat-design-an-in-depth-look.html) nowadays and inspiration from Windows8 – rumors are that Apple will follow W8 and expand this design concept in their next IOS update as well.
A clear trend is to use design frameworks, Twitter Bootstrap is off course one of the more popular ones and it gives you a wide range of elements that makes it easier and faster to build really cool site. On the Flat design theme both WordPress and Drupal has a lot of nice templates to get inspiration from.
